Biography[]
Mayuko is a mysterious older woman that Watanuki encounters while Yuuko and Mokona are on a business trip. As time passes, the two bond like mother and son, though Watanuki becomes ill as a result, the implication being that Mayuko is an ikiryo, or living ghost.
Eventually, Doumeki exorcises Mayuko, much to Watanuki's anguish. As she fades away, Mayuko assures Watanuki that there are others who care about him.
Etymology[]
- Her given name Mayuko (繭子) means "callus," lit. "cocoon child."
